Marki Sparks

Marki Ruth Sparks, 57, of Bettendorf died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Trinity Bettendorf. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 11:00 am at Edwards Congregational Church in Davenport. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 until the service at the church. Inurnment will follow at Oakdale Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.therungemortuary.com.

Marki was born January 13, 1953 in Davenport, the daughter of Allen and Joan (Cook) Petersen. She was united in marriage to Gene Sparks in 1982 in DeWitt, IA. She received her Paralegal Degree from Marycrest College and her Accounting Degree from Scott Community College. She had worked at various accounting departments in the Quad Cities. Marki was very politically active in the Democratic party, however, her greatest joy was spending time with her family and her beloved pets.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Gene, Bettendorf, daughter, Danielle Sparks (Anne), Iowa City, IA, stepsons: Keith (Kim ) Sparks, Clinton, Kennie (Abbey) Sparks, Maquoketa, Dale (Stephanie) Sparks, Washington, IA, Dean Sparks, Charlotte, NC, grandchildren: Nathan, Taylan, Kennady and Molly; brother, Kevin Petersen, Davenport, sisters: Laurie Funderburk, Eldridge and Beth Petersen (Dianna) Sanford, FL, her father, Allen Petersen, Bettendorf, nephew, Chad Funderburk, Bettendorf and her beloved pets. Her mother preceded her in death.
