Davenport, IA Funeral services for Michael K. Maynard, age 49, of Davenport, IA, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. Burial with military honors will follow at Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. The family will greet friends at the mortuary from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Mr. Maynard died very unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport. Michael Kent Maynard was born on October 4, 1959, the son of Johnnie and Jeanette (Teel) Maynard in Davenport, IA. He married Mary Sue Hunter-Johnson on February 17, 2001 in Davenport. Mr. Maynard was a graduate of Davenport West High School and went on to serve in the United States Marines earning the rank of Lance Corporal. Following his military obligations, he worked for Roderer Transfer in Davenport and then as a roofing sub-contractor with various area roofing businesses in the Quad Cities. He enjoyed all sports, especially baseball and bowling, as well as participating in many area dart tournaments. He was a devoted Bears and Cubs fan. “Maybe next year”. Survivors include – his Wife: Mary of Davenport; 3 Sons: Nick Maynard, Matt Maynard, and Nathan Maynard, all of Davenport; a Step-Daughter: Tina (Steven) Gaskin of Davenport and a Step-Son: Brett Hunter, also of Davenport; his Mother and Step-father: Jeanette and Sonny Bachman of Davenport; 2 Sisters: Vickie (David) Conger and Mary (Randy) Kluever; 3 Brothers: John Maynard, Jeff (Margaret) Maynard, and Tim (Barb) Maynard; 6 grandchildren; his good friend: Mike Blocker. He was preceded in death by his father. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
