

Funeral services for Michael Pate, 53, of Davenport, IA will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary chapel in Davenport. Family will greet friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the mortuary. Interment with military honors will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, IL. Mr. Pate died on Thursday, March 25, 2010, at his home in Davenport.Michael Earnest Pate was born in Fort Benning, GA on December 7, 1956, a son of Earnest and Sylvia (Jarrett) Pate. He served in the United States Navy from 1973-1977. On October 1, 1992, he married Frances King in Davenport. Mike worked as a diesel mechanic for Peterbilt for 24 years, Ruan for 2 years, and Mississippi Truck and Trailer for 3 years. He was a loving father, husband, and brother who enjoyed family, camping, softball, and fishing. He took great pride in everything he did. He is survived by his wife: Frances “Libby” of Davenport; three Children: Ernest (Trish) Pate of Bettendorf, IA, Roberta (Ken) Shuppy of Davenport; Justin Sammon of Davenport; a Step daughter: Jessica (Jim) Green of Maquoketa, IA; two Step sons: Josh (Erin) McChesney of Parkview, IA, Justin (Sarah) McChesney of Davenport; two Sisters: Marilyn (Doug) Horner of Bellevue, IA, Cathy (Ed Caes) Pate of Hale, IA; two Brothers: Robert (DeAnna) Pate of Keithburg, IA, Roger (Melinda) Pate of Bettendorf, IA; 11 Grandchildren: Matthew, Kayla, R.J., Jonathan and MyKenna Shuppy; Bailey and Tyler Pate; Quinn and Izabelle McChesney; James and Jamie Green; six Nieces: Luisa Burton, Angela Burton, Amanda Pate, Courtney Pate, Gerilynn Pate, Katie Benton; seven Nephews: James Burton, Andrew Pate, Robert Pate, Jason Tooley, Michael Smith, Christopher Pate, Jesse Cantanaglia. He also has an extensive family of great nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
