Nancy was born on March 19, 1949 in Marion, IA to parents Stuart and Waunita (Moore) Fairbanks. She graduated from Linn-Mar High School and went on to work for Rockwell Collins, now known as Collins Aerospace Systems. On April 21, 1971, Nancy married Gary Galiher and the pair went on to enjoy over 48 years in each other’s company. Gary later passed on March 16, 2020.
A true outdoorswoman at heart, Nancy found joy in the simple beauty of nature—spending countless cherished days with her grandchildren exploring state parks, going on spontaneous day trips, and gathering around warm bonfires under the stars. Her time living in Idaho left a lasting impression on her; she loved the mountainous landscape.
In quieter moments, Nancy enjoyed playing video games, often escaping into whimsical worlds like Animal Crossing or sharing laughs over Shrek on the GameCube.
Above all else, Nancy will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the adventures she shared, and the warmth she brought into the lives of everyone who knew her.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Shannon Madison; granddaughters, Alicia and Ashley Madison, and her great-grandchildren, Peyton and Atlas Madison.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gary.
