Paul A. Eckman

A memorial service for Paul A. Eckman, 80, of Davenport, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church, Davenport. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Eckman passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Manor Care, Davenport. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service assisted the family with arrangements. Paul Allen Eckman was born on October 28, 1932 in Rockford Illinois, the son of Paul and Ellen Eckman. He graduated Luther Junior College in Wahoo, NE and continued his education at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. He graduated from Augustana College in 1956 and from Augustana Seminary in 1960. On June 29, 1958, he married Dorita A. Rosenboom in Davenport. During the 1960’s, Mr. Eckman served as a Lutheran pastor in St. Paul, MN, Worcester, MA, and North Olmsted, OH. He later worked as a diesel mechanic at Cummins Diesel until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Augustana Oratorio Society, and Iowa Master Gardners. He is survived by his Wife: Dorita Eckman of Davenport; two Sons: Mark (Pamela) Eckman of Bettendorf, Timothy Eckman of Moline, IL; two Grandchildren: Benjamin and Luke Eckman of Bettendorf; Nieces and Nephews: Rick (Leslie) Behncke, Randy (Sally) Behncke, LuAnne (Dave) Clark; and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church.
