Perley Canaan

Perley E. Canaan, 95, of Muscatine, Iowa passed away on May 22, 2025. Funeral services will be held at the Runge Mortuary on Tuesday May 27, 2025, at 12pm. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Online memorials may be made at www.rungemortuary.com.

Perley was born on July 16, 1929, in Watertown New York to Ambrose and Hazel (Coscomb) Canaan. He was one of sixteen children growing up, his brother Timothy Canaan being the only surviving sibling since Perley’s passing. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was united in marriage on August 5, 1961, to Frances (Fran) Stratton. They enjoyed 35 years of marriage until her passing in 1996.

Throughout his life he enjoyed bowling, dancing, swimming, golfing and was also very social. There wasn't anything he wouldn't try at least once in life. Perley was known for his strong work ethic. He made many lifelong friends wherever he went, whether it be through work or social events. He was loved and cherished by his large extensive family and all that knew him. Perley spoke often about how much family meant to him and how much he cherished his. He will be truly missed.
