Phyllis J. Wahlig, 97, of Davenport passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be left to Clarissa C. Phyllis was born on October 30, 1925 in Davenport to Edwin and Ella (Danielson) Weiskopf. She was united in marriage to Raymond Wahlig on July 3, 1948. He preceded her in death on September 3, 2007. Phyllis was a secretary for the Davenport Community School District and the Mississippi Bend AEA for 30 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and bridge and euchre groups. She was an avid golfer in various leagues. Phyllis was an amazingly kind and loving mother and grandmother. She rarely missed any of her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was also an excellent cook, especially known for her peanut brittle distributed around the holidays.
Survivors include her son, Tim (Kathy) Wahlig of Le Claire; grandchildren, Chad (Natasha) Wahlig of Le Claire and Krista (Dylan) Donnelly of Middleton, WI; five great grandchildren, Jackson, Reese, Samantha, Ellie and Deacon; one sister, Katie Dittmer and Phyllis' loving companion, Richard Beert.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Arlene and brothers-in-law, Milo Hamilton and Robert Dittmer.
