Richard A. Burris

A gathering to celebrate the life of Richard “Dick” A. Burris, 78, of Bettendorf will be held from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Rhythm City Casino in the Ft. Madison Room. Inurnment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery at a later date. Mr. Burris passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements. Richard Arnold Burris was born on January 13, 1939 in Monticello, IA, the son of Chaney and Ruth (Bender) Burris. On June 18, 1961, he married Rosalie F. Stevens in Clinton, IA. She preceded him in death in 2007. Dick was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked as a carpenter and was a lifelong member of the local Carpenters Union. He is survived by Daughters: Pat Coit of Lafayette, CO, Cindy Castaldo of Lake in the Hills, IL; Son: Bill Burris of Kennesaw, GA; Companion: Ruth Bertram of Bettendorf; Sisters: June Braach, Edith Shimp, Gwen Kanakares, all of Davenport; Brothers: Chaney Burris, John Burris, both of Davenport; 8 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Murphy; son, Tim Burris; and two brothers, Ron and Craig Burris.
