

Richard L. “Dick” Ortiz, 66, of Davenport, passed away unexpectedly at his home Thursday, April 19, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 23, 2012 at St. James Lutheran Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Runge Mortuary. He was born on November 30, 1945 in Moline, IL, the son of Arthur and Paulina (Guiterrez) Ortiz and married Kathryn “Kathy” Pickar on April 9, 1988 in Bettendorf.
Dick retired from Metrolink after 27 years and was known as the “Singing Bus Driver”. He enjoyed his grandchildren – they were the lights of his life who he lovingly referred to as “Papa’s Angels”. He was a very loving, caring, loyal and generous man who was devoted to his entire family. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tease people. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and a huge Notre Dame fan who totally supported their football team. Those left to celebrate his life include his loving wife of 24 years, Kathy; daughters, Pam and Darren Garrett, Davenport and Peggy and Jeff Morrissey, Milan, IL; his boy Art Ortiz and spouse, Sean Daniels, Rock Island, IL; grandchildren, Megan, Collin, Jessica and Shannon; siblings, Pete (Ann) Ortiz, Mt, Joy, IA, Jim Ortiz, Davenport, and Carol Ortiz, Rock Island; and his faithful dog, Hobo. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Art; and his Uncle Richard.
