

Graveside services for Richard J. Rasmussen, 89, of Bettendorf will be held at 11:45 a.m. on Friday at the All Veterans Memorial at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion –Post #26. The family will greet friends on Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary in Davenport. Mr. Rasmussen passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Richard Joseph Rasmussen was born on June 17, 1926 in Blue Earth, MN, the son of Irving and Katherine (King) Rasmussen. After graduating from Davenport Central High School, he joined the United States Navy and served in World War II as a Fireman First Class. On October 8, 1948, he married Edna L. Richardson in Rock Island. She preceded him in death in 2010. Mr. Rasmussen worked as a panel board operator at Holcim until his retirement. He was a member of Rock Island VFW, and Community of Christ Church in Davenport, where he also served as a Deacon. He is survived by three Daughters: Karla (Richard) Enright of Bettendorf, Laurie (Bob) Zabloudil of Gahanna, OH, Deb Kopf of Seattle, WA; a Son-in-Law: Larry Goettsch of Donahue, IA; six Grandchildren: Michael (Sommer) Enright of St. Peters, MO, Jamica (Dan) Kirkendall of Sunbury, OH, Joe (Rachel) Zabloudil of Gahanna, OH, Alicia Zabloudil of Gahanna, OH, Kyle Goettsch of St. Paul, MN, Emerald (Joe) McGehee of Centralia, WA; seven Great-Grandchildren: Olivia, Owen, and Oxley Enright, Justice and Haven Kirkendall, Hailey McGehee, and Aurora Zabloudil; and a Sister: Betty Current of Davenport. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a Daughter: Doralynn Goettsch; Sister: Doris Wilkes; and Brother: Robert Rasmussen. Memorials may be directed to Community of Christ Church.
