Memorials in Bob’s name may be made to the Humility Homes and Services, formerly Humility of Mary Shelter.
Bob was born on January 27, 1944 to Everett and Edna Boutelle in Mason City, Iowa. Bob was raised on the family farm where he learned the power of hard work and dedication. He was united in marriage to Nancy Woolworth on January 10, 1965 in Osage, Iowa, there after moving to Davenport. He was hired at the City of Davenport as a laborer in 1964. Bob worked his way up through the ranks and served his community until his retirement in 1999, with the last 10 years as the Superintendent of the Street Department. While working for the City of Davenport and raising a family; Bob found time to fulfill his love for farming by working on the local Garner and Brix Farms.
Bob was a true outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, camping, going to hill climbs, and mud bogs. If Bob wasn’t riding his motorcycle, he was doing burn outs at Cordova Dragway, or attending stock car races at the Davenport Speedway. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob and Nancy traveled all across the Midwest on his motorcycle, taking back roads the whole time to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Bob was an active volunteer with Humility of Mary Shelter (now Humility Homes and Services); he was awarded the WQAD/Ascentra Pay it Forward Award in 2013.
Those left to honor Bob’s memory are his wife, Nancy; children Mike Boutelle and Melanie (Mike) Jones; grandchildren: Zach (Kathryn) Boutelle; Josh Boutelle, Breanna McKown, Ellie (Ricky) Doss, Thomas (Gloria) Kneipp, and Brittnie Boutelle; great-grandchildren: Laylah, Mila, Ricky, Oliver, Braylen, Lilah, Khora, Grayson, and Hudson; special friends Lucy Bainbridge and Rich Novak; and beloved grand-dogs Max and Lizzy. He was preceded in death by his parents, step father Heinz Seemann, and siblings Ronald Boutelle and Beverly Helgeson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Wheatland Manor for all of their love and support during his final weeks.
