

Visitation for Robert “Pocka” E. Eklund, 83, of Davenport will be held from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 24th at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary. Burial will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Mr. Eklund passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at his residence. Robert Eugene Eklund was born on December 4, 1933 in Davenport, the son of Raymond and Ruby (Eppard) Eklund. He served in the artillery unit of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his military obligations, Robert worked as a machinist at Alcoa until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Alcoa AFL-CIO, as well as a former 8-year veteran of the Davenport Fire Department. Robert was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and camping. He was also an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan. In his earlier years, he was active in fast pitch softball. He is survived by Daughters: Catherine Long of New port Richey, FL, Diana Myler of Holiday, FL, Sandra Eklund of Roswell, GA; 5 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Illene Kelty, Betty Peel, and Ruth Ann Farnsworth; and brothers, Ray and David Eklund. Memorials may be directed to the family.
