

Roger R. Schroeder, 83, of Wilton, IA passed away at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 after a battle with cancer. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, February 20, 2017 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery with Military Honors by Rixe Lausen Post 104. Memorials may be made to Bennett Legion or Bennett Fire Department. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Roger was born on May 10, 1933 in Eldridge, IA to Rudolf O. and Anna Frieda (Claussen) Schroeder. He married JoAnn Meinhardt on May 11, 1957. She preceded him in death in 1991. He married Barbara Cline on September 21, 1996. Roger proudly served in the Army from 1953 to 1955. He was a farmer all his life. He was a seed corn dealer for over 30 years. He was past president of the Stockton Co-op and past board member of River Valley Coop. He was a member of the Rixe Lausen Legion Post 104 in Bennett, IA. Roger loved bowling, playing cards, dancing, hunting, going to the casino and old country music. He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going to the kids’ sports games. Roger was a special person who was loved by all who knew him. His step-children named him “Mr. Wonderful” when they first met him, and they all knew him by that name. Survivors include his loving wife of 20 years, Barbara, daughter, Sharon (Rodney) Schneider, Lowden; sons, Wayne Schroeder and Ronald (Elizabeth) Schroeder, Wilton; step-children, Tammy (Steve) Fahrenkrog, Eldridge, Rodney Cline, Eldridge, Derrick (Shanda) Cline, Calamus; eight grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn; parents; sisters, Pauline Rathjen and Darlene Kroeger; brother, William Schroeder and sister-in-law, Nancy Claussen.
