She finally lost the race after a grueling, 2 year battle with aggressive metastatic breast cancer.
Rosa was born in Seoul South Korea on September 15, 1965, where she lived and worked until she met her first husband Gerald R. Harmon. With him, she gave birth to two children, Mary Nam Harmon and Larry Nam Harmon, and served as a loving housewife and homemaker. She moved to America with her family in 1996 following her then husband’s relocations across the country before settling down in the Quad Cities. She separated from her Gerald in 2003 and began a relationship with her current husband Jefferey. The couple was officially wed on October 26, 2016.
In her spare time Rosa loved to cook Korean and American cuisine and was a devout Catholic. Rosa lived solely for her family, serving as a caring mother and wife. All her time and energy she dedicated to creating a life for her family that she was not allowed in Korea. She succeeded in this effort exceptionally.
Rosa was loved by all she met. She was a passionate, strong willed, funny, and remarkably kind woman, despite her illness. Her unwavering tenacity in the face of her cancer was an inspiration to everyone. The information learned from Rosa’s cancer progression will inform cancer treatment practices for years to come.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, January 7th, at The Runge Mortuary and Crematory, 838 East Kimberly Road, Davenport, IA. A short service will follow after with Reverend Hang-Baek Cho.
