Ruth Ann Farnsworth

Ruth A. Farnsworth, 76, of Davenport, Iowa, died Monday, September 15, 2014 at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehab facility in Clinton, Iowa. Visitation and funeral services for will be held at Runge Mortuary in Davenport, Iowa on Saturday, September 20, 2014. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am and the funeral service will begin at 10:00 am.

Ruth Ann Eklund was born on December 19, 1937 in Davenport, Iowa. She was the daughter of Raymond and Ruby (Eppard) Eklund. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1955. In 1957, she married Rolland H. Blind, divorcing in 1970. In 1983, she married Gene L. Farnworth, Sr. Ruth enjoyed mystery and suspense books, family gatherings, rides to look at the deer, spending time watching the Mississippi River or lagoon at Vander Veer Park, and a good joke. She worked in her family’s grocery store through her teens, then in banking, as a secretary (North Scott High School), and as a receptionist (Genesis West) until she retired.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Gene Sr., son Jeff (Lisa) Blind, daughter, Lynne (Pierluigi) Trevisan, step-children Gene Farnsworth Jr., Janie Ann Horner, Douglas Farnsworth, and their respective children. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Eklund. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, siblings David (Kiddo) Eklund, Betty Peel, Raymond Eklund, and Illene Kelty, and her son, Jim Blind, who passed away in 2013.

The family has designated the Alzheimer’s Association and the American Diabetes Association for memorial contributions.
