

Sara was born March 1, 1945 in Louisville, Mississippi to Roosevelt and Julia Burrage. Sara was educated in Davenport Schools. She accepted Christ at an early age at Pentecostal Church of God, under the direction of Bishop A.L. Boyd. She maintained her membership at Pentecostal Church Of God under Bishop MacArthur Anderson and Bishop Mark Anderson. She married Lonnie A. Bates. Lonnie preceded her in death.
She was employed at the Kahl Home, and well known for babysitting everyone's children in her home. Sara was always the life of the party. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, church, and taking care of her family. She was known for falling asleep mid-sentence and waking up saying "I wasn't sleep."
Those left to cherish her memory are sons: Lonnie, Douglas (Stacy) and Christopher, all of Davenport, IA Sisters; Carolyn R Burrage-Thomas, Davenport, IA, Robin S. Burrage, Louisville, Mississippi. Brothers, Frank J. (Shirley) Burrage, Prentis L. Burrage, Jeffrey A. Burrage, all of Davenport, Iowa. Grandchildren; Catina McNeil, Shavonkia Bates, Loniesha Crumbley, Charles Nelson-Moser, Douglas Q Bates, Trinity Bates, Jayce Bennett, Ethan Miranda, Victoria Johnson, Domonique Johnson; Great Grandchildren, Paiden Pierre, Meshiya Bates, Shaleeah Crumbley, Judoree Batea, Sayvour Bates, Xievier Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jesse, Charles, William and Charlie Burrage; sisters, Julie Lomas, Lueann Burrage and Sharon Burrage; son, Micah Bates and grandson Micah Bates Jr.
