Shirley J. Norris

Shirley J. Norris, 83, of Davenport, died on Friday, July 9, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center West Campus in Davenport. Cremation Rites have been accorded, as was her request. The will be a private family burial and graveside service held at a later date in the Grandview Cemetery, Grandview, IA. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements. Shirley Jean Stropes was born on May 15, 1927 in Rock Island, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Beulah (Hoover) Stropes. On August 2, 1945 she married Loren “Bob” Norris in Muscatine, IA. He preceded her in death in January of 1996. Mrs. Norris worked for many years in the housekeeping department at St. Ambrose University retiring in 1990. She enjoyed painting, craftwork, crocheting, bird watching, and most especially spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by: a Daughter Jody Norris of Davenport; 2 Sons: George (Tess) Norris of Nampa, ID and Carl (Lora) Norris of Davenport; 8 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 4 Sisters, and 3 Brothers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
