Vaughn Francis Ruefer

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, November 18, 2011 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held 4-7 pm, Thursday at the mortuary. Mr. Ruefer was born on September 2, 1929 in Scott County, Iowa, the son of Edward and Viola (Horst) Ruefer. On February 1, 1969, he married L. Bernice Huntley in Andalusia, IL. She preceded him in death in February 2007.

He was employed by Blackhawk Foundry in Davenport prior to his retirement in 2002. He also enjoyed his lawn mowing service with his grandchildren. He was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Davenport, enjoyed traveling with his wife, cross-stitching and jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include children, David (Sue) Huntley, Donna (Steve) Finkenhoefer, Julia (Brian) Lynch, Douglas (Kim) Ruefer, and Shari Ruefer; eleven grandchildren and multiple great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Ruefer, his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
