Virgil William Kelting

Virgil W. Kelting, 87, of Donahue, IA passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 at the Davenport Lutheran Home. Funeral services will be 11:30AM on Thursday (8/26) at the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8PM Wednesday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to Donahue Fire Dept or the Donahue Sportsmen’s Club. Virgil was born June 3, 1923 in Davenport, IA to George & Hilda (Arp) Kelting. He was united in marriage to Alberta Rohwer on February 9, 1946 in Davenport at St. Paul Lutheran Church. They celebrated there 64th wedding anniversary this year.

Virgil & Alberta were dairy farmers there entire lives in Davenport and Donahue.

Virgil was a member of the River Valley Coop, Farmers Union, Foresters, & Swiss Valley Dairy. He was an accomplished welder and could fix almost anything.

Survivors include his wife Alberta, Donahue; Daughter Janet (Darrell) Engler, Long Grove, IA; Son Jerry Kelting, Donahue, IA; 3 grandchildren Jim (Cheryl) Hinckley, Cassie Engler, and Daron Engler; Great Grand Children Melissa, Landon, Devin, and Trever; and sister in law Nadine Kelting.

Virgil was preceed in death by his parents and a brother Lester in 1972.
