

Wallace “Wally” S. Bloomer Jr., age 81, of Eldridge, Iowa, passed away on January 7th, 2026 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. Wally was born on March 10th, 1944 in Davenport, Iowa to Walt and Vivian Bloomer. He graduated from West High School in 1963, where he met the love of his life, Marlene. Wally and Marlene married on April 8th, 1967. They had 2 children, Bradley Bloomer of Eldridge, Iowa and Michele (Shelly) Bloomer of Davenport, Iowa and four grandchildren, Brook Bloomer, Wally (Cammi) Bloomer, Brandt Bloomer and Adeline Bloomer-Gomez.
He is survived by his children; grandchildren; and nephew Kevin Bloomer
He is preceded in his death by his wife, Marlene Bloomer, his parents Walt and Vivian Bloomer, and brother, Ronnie Bloomer.
After graduating high school, Wally worked at Ralston-Purina, which led him to working at the Rock Island Arsenal as a tool and die maker apprentice, where he developed his skills as a machinist. Wally integrated his work and passion by selling Hydra-Sports bass boats from his own front yard. Wally became the #1 Hydra-Sports boat salesman in the country from 1977-1979. Wally also rebuilt transmissions from this very same garage, while supporting his wife and children in their respective endeavors.
Wally was loved and respected by all who knew him. While working at the Rock Island Arsenal, and throughout his rich life, he met many friends who supported and encouraged his outdoor lifestyle. These friends played an important role in Wally’s legacy. Wally was a founding member of the Quad City Bass Club. He, alongside his son Bradley, won Angler of the Year four times. Wally was also a member of the Free Masons and a skilled trapper.
Wally was a husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. He was humble, supportive and loved by many. He always lent a listening ear and wise advice. While his words were few, his impact was great.
Services will be held at Runge Mortuary in Davenport, Iowa on Tuesday, January 13th, 2026. Visitation will be held 10:00am-12:00pm with funeral service to follow at 12:00pm. Reception following at the Elks Lodge.
