William H. “Bill” Graves, 63, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011 at East Locust Manor Care in Davenport. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Progressive Baptist Church in Davenport. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the family. He was born January 12, 1948 in Moberly, Missouri, the son of Jodie Lue and Delores Graves. On February 1, 1988 he married Sue Korth.
Bill was the first policeman of color in Davenport. Following that he was employed by Davenport Medical Center prior to his retirement.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Sue; his mother, Delores Coleman; his son, W. M. Sean Graves; sisters, Deborah McNeal and Faye Graves; stepchildren, Kenneth, Karen, Michael and David; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Carl Graves.
