

Bill was born on December 23, 1953 to Bob and Evalyn (Pauling) McGill, in Davenport, Iowa. Bill graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1972 and soon after began a life long career as a mechanic, specializing in foreign cars. He loved restoring old Harley Davidson’s and could be found at swap meets throughout the Midwest looking for that special deal. There wasn’t anything Bill couldn’t fix and was often helping friends, family, and neighbors with his talent. He was also an amateur Ham Radio operator, a hobby from when he was a teen, and had friends all over the world. Though Bill never married, he loved and helped raise three wonderful kids with his long time girlfriend Vera Johnson. Bill is survived by his mother, Evalyn McGill, a brother Ed (Sheranne) McGill, nephew and nieces Nick, Celeste and Rachel McGill, great nephews and nieces Ian, Xavier, Meadow and Aidan, all of Mountain Home, Arkansas, sister Coleen(Darrell) McKittrick and nephews Kyle and Sean McKittrick of Davenport, his “kids” Brian Buchanan and Mikie Rump of Davenport and Heather Bo of Eldridge, his “grandkids,” Michael, Amanda, Sammy, Will and Melissa, and finally his faithful dog and constant companion , Sheila. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert R. McGill, his maternal grandparents, Fred and Ethel Pauling, and his paternal grandparents, Paul and Edna McGill.
