William “Bill” Thorndyke, 79, formerly of Muscatine, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014 in Rock Island. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm, Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 12:30-2:30 pm Tuesday at the mortuary. Bill was born in Muscatine, Iowa and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On February 20, 1956 he married Barbara Woods in Muscatine. She preceded him in death in 1995. He was employed by Case in Rock Island and later by the Rock Island Arsenal.
Survivors include his kids: Penny Thorndyke, Debbie and Jim Robbins, Barbara Thorndyke, Ely and Courtney Thorndyke, Thersa Thorndyke, and Joshua Thorndyke; 33 special grandchildren; a sister Nancy and a brother, Pete. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister and nieces and nephews.
