Harold Leroy Watts, Jr., known to many as Pete, age 70 of Davenport, Iowa, and former Carrollton, Missouri resident, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Harold was the son of Harold Leroy and Betty Lou (Bell) Watts, Sr., born in Carrollton, Missouri on December 11, 1947. He attended grade school in Carrollton and graduated from Carrollton High School. On April 18, 1970, Pete married Marilyn Sue Booker at the First Baptist Church in Norborne, Missouri. This union was blessed by their three children, Patrick Edward, Vicky S., and Amanda Mae.
He made his career as a Foreman in the Track Division at Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, a position that meant more to him than just a job. Pete enjoyed traveling all over the United States for work and made hundreds of friends that he continued to keep in touch with over the years. He was an avid gun and knife collector, who also liked vegetable gardening as well as fishing and hunting with family and friends. His most favorite pastime which many thought to be a burden or chore was mowing; he loved being outside in nature and he found mowing to be quite relaxing. Pete was a dedicated family man who always put the needs of his family first, and he loved spending as much time with them as possible, especially his grandchildren and great-grandson.
Pete is survived by his family, his wife Marilyn of the home; children, Patrick Edward Watts, Vicky S. Sharp and husband Robert, and Amanda Mae Watts, all of Davenport, Iowa; his siblings, Jim Watts and wife Margaret of Carrollton, Missouri, John Watts and wife Charlotte of Florida, Sarah Durham and husband Jerry of Slater, Missouri and Janet Watts of Carrollton, Missouri; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Betty Watts, Sr.; and one brother, Wayne Watts.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Bittiker Funeral Home, 1201 North 65 Highway, Carrollton, Missouri.
