

Born on November 1, 1934 in Wilbur, Alan was one of six children born to Henry and Irene Krause. Alan attended school in Creston and graduated in 1952. He then went on to continue his education at Washington State College (WSU). Alan spent six years working at the Lincoln Sawmill before being drafted to the Army and deployed to Germany. After two years he was discharged and moved back to Creston where he continued working at the Sawmill until he married the love of his life, Monica Petersen. They welcomed two daughters, Danette and Lisa. Alan managed Kennedy Chemical for six years and owned the Napa Auto Parts in downtown Wilbur. He and his brother Phil ran their family farm north of Creston for years until Alan worked for Wilbur Securities, a job he enjoyed until retirement at the age of 70. Alan was a volunteer fire fighter, member of the Toastmasters Club, Washington State Wheat Growers and a former Wilbur Lions Club President.
Alan and Monica enjoyed over 20 years living at their Hanson Harbor home loving the sunrise, sunsets and views of the river. He loved entertaining his Hanson Harbor friends, fishing, metal work and tinkering in his shop. Alan spent many hours working with his plasma cutter and made many pieces of art.
Alan is survived by his wife of 65 years Monica and daughters Danette (John) Edwards of Wilbur and Lisa (Kelly) Graber of Davenport. Grandchildren Tyler (Tiffany) Edwards of Hartline; Brylee (Brian) Fink of Odessa; Kenzie (Matthew) Dreger of Wilbur; Sam (Simone) Graber of Spokane Valley; and great grandchildren Eli, Wyatt, Lane, Colin, Conrad and Addilyn. Two sisters, Joyce Weaver, Spokane, WA; Carol Swedberg, Milwaukee, OR along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Irene Krause; brothers, Harry and Phil Krause and sister Marilyn Harris.
