Our beloved sister and aunt, Arlene Sarah Anderson, peacefully passed away the evening of November 5, 2019, in Spokane, WA at age 68. She was born in Deaconess Hospital in Spokane on January 4, 1951, to Vern and Sally Anderson. Participating in school programs while attending Edwall Elementary school through 8th grade, she graduated from Reardan-Edwall High School in 1969, briefly attending Spokane Community College. In her early years, she played the piano, tap, ballet and hula danced and appeared on Starlight Stairway. While in 4-H, she won ribbons at the Lincoln County Fair for her sewing and baking. With her family, she travelled to Hawaii, the Western states, the Eastern Seaboard and Europe. Arlene loved swimming, jig saw puzzles and all animals with horses as her favorite. She was a positive person and could always find a compliment for everyone she talked to. She frequently volunteered at the Humane Society and Shadle Branch of the Spokane Library. Arlene enjoyed activities at the West Central Community Center such as knitting stocking caps and scarves to donate to people in need until her disability prevented her from doing so. Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, Vern Nils and Sarah June (Nixon) Anderson, and is survived by sister, Carroll Paul in Edwall, and brother, Stewart “Andy” Anderson and wife, Denise, in Wenatchee; Nieces Karrie Paul and Chelsea Baird and nephews, Patrick Paul and Justin Anderson as well as numerous cousins from Sweden to Seattle. Graveside service will be at the Edwall Cemetery at 1:30 PM on Thursday, November 14th followed by a memorial service at the Edwall Methodist Church at 2:00 PM. The family requests memorial donations directed to Horizon Hospice, 608 E. Holland, Spokane 99218, or Edwall Methodist Church, DEUMC, P.O. Box 734, Davenport, WA 99122.
