

David Ernest Mandere was born July 7, 1942 to Jules and Claudia (Goff) Mandere in San Francisco, CA. Two years later David’s little sister Karen joined the family. David passed away peacefully surrounded by his 5 loving children, holding his wife’s hand on the evening of April 23, 2026 following a short illness.
David attended High School at San Rafael High where he met the love of his life Patricia McCurdy, he graduated in 1960. They were married January 10, 1965.
Following in his father ‘s footsteps in sharing his love for aviation, Dave earned his pilots license before he was old enough to drive. He studied Mechanical Engineering at Heald College in San Francisco. Dave was recruited by US Steel in 1965 where he worked until 1974. Dave had traveled to Washington State to visit family and his college friend Loren Rux where he discovered Lloyd’s Hardware was seeking new ownership, he saw this as an opportunity to move the family. They moved their family of 4 young children, Michael, Denise, John and Marlene in July 1974 and have never regretted it. They poured their lives into serving and providing for everyone who entered the store. Dave had the heart of a servant and chose to serve his community as a firefighter and EMT. In 1976 Dave and Pat welcomed their youngest son Mark to complete their family of 7. In 1980 Dave and Pat expanded Lloyd’s Hardware and opened Dave’s Home Center in the heart of Davenport adding lumber, a garden center, toys and electronics. After 21 years of serving the community Dave and Pat decided to sell the hardware business in 1995. Dave continued to serve the Spokane community as a firefighter until he retired in 2005. Dave remained in the hardware industry before officially retiring from Mandere Construction in 2008.
While busy raising their 5 children they always made time to go boating on Lake Roosevelt. Dave and Pat both loved traveling and cruising, his favorites were Ireland, the South Pacific and Chile. They made countless trips to California to visit friends and relatives.
Dave, proud husband and father is survived by his wife Pat, children Michael (Wendy) Mandere, Denise (Scott) Liebing, John (Denise) Mandere, Marlene (Eric) Nelson, Mark (Monica) Mandere and his 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Dave is also survived by his sister Karen (Bruce) Dawson, sisters-in-law Sharon (Barney) Stephens, Dot (Roy) Giusti, Kathy Parks and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday May 5, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 219 E Rockwood Blvd. Spokane, WA at 11:00 A.M. with a reception to follow in downtown Spokane. Private family graveside will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Lincoln County Fire District #5 or a simple act of kindness in Dave’s name.
