

Passed away peacefully in his home on April 14, 2017. He was born July 26, 1935 to Harold V. Larson, MD and Lillian Ragsdale in Seattle, WA. He grew up in Poulsbo area and graduated from Kitsap High School in Silverdale, WA in 1954. Hap joined the US Army after high school and was sent to Japan as an auto and machinery mechanic. While the he contracted encephalitis and was hospitalized for several months, ending his military service. He harried Virginia Sherman in 1960 and they had three children: Chris, Kim and Harold (Brin). They later divorced. Hap was a regional manager for Fisher Flour Mills and later for Farmer-Stockman, Inc. traveling and selling insurance to farmers across Eastern Washington and Montana. In 1978 he met Myrtle Kohlstedt, and for the past 30 years, Hap and Myrt spend countless hours developing their acreage near Fruitland, on Lake Roosevelt. Myrt grew up in that area and she has many relatives that live nearby. They retired to their beloved property in 1997, moving into a beautiful new home overlooking the water. Over the years, Hap learned to be a mechanic, logger, home builder, orchardist and framer. Ever the salesman, he continued to travel around the Hunters and Kettle Falls area selling tomatoes, Marion berries, and other produce from their large garden. Hap was a friend to all and was always happy to see you. You could always count on a big wave, a big smile, and a cold drink when pulling up to his home. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by Myrt, his three children Christine (Paul) Anderson, Kim Larson (Robert Maahs), Brin Larson; his 3 grandchildren, Heather, Noah and Nathaniel, and Myrt’s children Pam (Bob), Ray (Katie) and Rick (Robbin) and 7 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. At his request, Hap will be cremated, and no services will be held. Family and friends will gather at a later date in remembrance of him.
