Passed away unexpectedly on Sunday May 5, 2024 in the comfort of his home in Seven Bays, WA. Jim was born on January 7, 1949 in Spokane, WA to Charles and Rose Starr. He grew up in Spokane where he attended and graduated from Lewis & Clark High School. Then attended EWU where he received his degree in business finance. Jim owned and operated an Insurance and Investment company for several years, Starr, Starr and Brown, which later became Brown and Starr until his retirement April 1st, 2024. Jim was a Deacon of the Valley Fourth Church, member of the NRA and the El Katif Shriners. Jim loved his relationship with God and shared with many people, sitting on the deck with Mary enjoying his coffee and the occasional glass of wine at the lake and boating. Jim is survived by his beloved life partner Mary Gamble, his daughter Jamie Starr, step-daughter, Chris (Jeff) Ferderer, step sons and their wives Troy (Andy) Morgan and Sandy (Shelley) Morgan and. His grandchildren Stephanie, Taylor, Eli and Chloe Morgan. As well as his great granddaughter Payton Critchlow in addition to several nieces and nephews, cousins Chris, Michael and Terry Rattray and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Rose Starr and his two step brothers Jerry and Richard Mellinger. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 12:00 PM (noon) at the Egypt Christ Lutheran Church 41697 State Rt 25 N., Davenport, WA with Pastor Tyler Gubsch, officiating. A family Interment will be held at the Mt. View Cemetery, Davenport WA. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim’s name may be made to the Lincoln Hospital Foundation, 10 Nicholls St. Davenport, WA 99122.
