
Ronald Lee Lyons, Sr. on July 4, 2016 of Annapolis (Hillsmere), MD. Mr. Lyons was born in Edgewater, MD on February 29, 1944 to Winfield and Helen Lyons. He was a lineman for the then C & P Telephone Company, now Verizon starting in 1965. He retired in 1992 after 27 years.
Mr. Lyons memberships included, The Annapolis Elks (B.P.O.E. 622), The Communication Workers of America Retiree's where he was President, The Peninsula Athletic League, where he was President and Football Coach and the club accomplished many championships, and Anne Arundel Youth Football for 10 years. He was the first person awarded the "Person of the Year" by the Evening Capital in Annapolis in 1980.
Mr. Lyons enjoyed crabbing, hunting and golf.
Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Ruth Lyons, son Ronald L. Lyons, Jr. of Edgewater and daughter Helen (Steve) Leishear also of Edgewater. His grandchildren Steve Jr. and Anne Marie Leishear, and siblings Eddie Lyons and Judy Hagner. He was preceded in death by his brother Scottie Lyons.
Relatives and friends may call at the Hardesty Funeral Home, P.A. 12 Ridgely Avenue Annapolis, MD 21401 on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM where funeral services will be held on Friday July 8, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville, MD.
