John was born in Flint, Michigan, to Bill and Lillian Wickham in 1942.
He moved to South Florida at the age of 13. John attended McArthur
High School in Hollywood, FL, where he was a cross country star,
breaking school and state records in the 2 mile race. At the age of 18,
John and his father Bill opened a moving company, Johnny’s Moving
and Storage in Hollywood, FL. Johnny’s Moving was a very
successful agent of United Van Lines for over 4 decades. On March
16, 1974, John married Cheryl Gray, the love of his life. They were
married for almost 40 years at the time of her passing in 2014.
John was a very kind and selfless person who put everyone else
before himself. He loved spending time with his family and friends
and he loved to dance. He could always be counted on and would
show up for anyone in their time of need. John also loved animals
and adopted many dogs and cats along the way.
John battled Parkinson’s Disease for several years, during which he
still kept his sense of humor and fun loving personality. He is very
much loved and deeply missed.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his sister,
Denise Wessel.
John is survived by his children: Dawn Weber, Jonathan Wickham,
and Dana Grant; his sisters, Beverly Wickham, Sharon Longacre, and
Kathleen Stubbolo; and his six grandchildren, Zachary Weber,
Spencer Weber, Colton Grant, Asher Grant, Benjamin Wickham, and
Lincoln Grant.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American
Parkinson Disease Association, the Parkinson’s Foundation, or The
Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research
