Born on June 14, 1948, in Danville, Illinois, Joy was the daughter of Victor Parmley and Florence Davis. She dedicated her professional life to caring for others, working as a nurse in the healthcare field.
Joy lived most of her later years in St. Lucie County, where she was supported with compassion by Treasure Coast Hospice during her final days.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Victor Parmley and Florence Davis.
Joy is survived by her son, Bruce Elam, and his wife Kelli of Plantation, Florida; her sister Karen of Port St. Lucie; her niece Katherine of Port St. Lucie; and her brother Scott Pennington of Key Largo, Florida.
A private cremation will take place at Fred Hunter’s Crematory in Hollywood, Florida, under the care of Fred Hunter’s Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joy’s memory to Treasure Coast Hospice.
