

Kohnen, Anthony H. (Tony), age 90 of Kettering and Marco Island, Florida, peacefully passed away on Friday, December 27, 2013. Tony graduated from St. Henry High School, the University of Dayton, class of 1950, and received an honorary doctorate degree from St. Joseph College (IN). Tony served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a bombardier in the 8th Air Force. He was an entrepreneur and a licensed professional engineer. Tony was a pioneer in the field of waste recycling and was a licensed private pilot and AOPA member. Tony was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Bishop Fenwick Society of the Athenaeum of Ohio, the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, and an active parishioner of St. Albert the Great Church as a choir member and Eucharistic Minister. He was a longtime board member of St. Joseph College and Calvary Cemetery Association. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Francis Kohnen; wife, Flora, of 60 years; sisters, Loretta and Celesta, brothers, Lawrence and Bernard; son, Kenneth; daughter-in-law, Carol; and great granddaughter, Bailey. Tony is survived by daughter Katherine, and husband, Joseph Farrey, sons Robert and wife, Gayle, Richard, Douglas and wife, Susanna, Charles and wife, Angela; sister, Rosemary Wendel, and brother, Norbert and wife, Evelyn; 15 grandchildren, Michael Farrey, Lynn Farrey, Brian, Justin, Daniel, Javaughn, Ashley, Kelly, Alan, Michael, Kevin, Kristopher, Katherine, Kenneth, and Andrew Kohnen; 3 great grandchildren, Alexandra, Isabella, and Caleb. The family will greet friends Monday, December 30, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at Tobias Funeral Home 5471 Far Hills Ave. Centerville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
