FREY, Arline Elizabeth age 97 of Riverside, Ohio passed away at Hospice of Dayton on Tuesday March 6, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Charles Raymond Frey; parents, Ernest C. and Geraldine Cloon; sister, Marilyn L. Walfield (Alden), and brother, William T. Cloon (Patricia). Arline is survived by daughter Karen E. Yenn, and sons Dr. Robert C. (Cathy), Stephen W. and Christopher A. Frey, grandchildren, Matthew C. (Stephanie) Yenn, Dr. Carrie E. (Matthew) Hook and Robert C. (Jennifer) Frey, and great-grandchildren, Campbell W. and Mollie E. Yenn. Arline was born on February 8, 1921 and grew up in Lynn MA. She was the Grade Champion in the Boston Herald Spelling Bee of 1938. Academically she was number two in her High School Class of 1938 and a member of the National Honor Society. Arline earned her BS in Education Degree from the State Teachers College at Salem MA in 1942 and taught school during WWII. She married Charles in 1946 and applied her teaching skills to raising a family in Dayton OH during the following decades. She was a founding member of Community United Methodist Church, volunteered for the VITA program with Charles, worked at J.C. Penneys and H&R Block. Arline enjoyed her home, family, hobbies and garden. A visitation will be held on Saturday March 17, 2018 from 10-11 AM at Tobias Funeral Home, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek. A Funeral Service will follow at 11 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Fritz Merkes officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Memorial Gardens.
