

When she was twelve or thirteen, she noticed H.C. Ownbey at church. She knew he was dating the wrong girl. She started praying about it. The girl moved away. Then he was interested in her older sister, she just kept praying about it, and when she was eighteen, Barbara married him. They were married for 62 years. They moved to Dayton, Ohio, and had their first two children. They then moved to Arlington, Texas, where they both graduated from Arlington Baptist Seminary. After serving at a church in Wichita Falls, Texas, they returned to Dayton, Ohio, where they were active in the music ministry at Dayton Baptist Temple many years, and several other churches. In later years, she attended Cornerstone Baptist Temple.
Barbara accepted Christ as her Saviour as a child and spent her life teaching her children to love and know Christ. She enjoyed singing with family and friends around the piano, church specials, the choir, playing the piano and organ, teaching Sunday School, and playing games, especially Rook and Yahtzee, crafting and sewing for her children.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Barrett Daley, and Helen Truman Daley, her loving husband, H.C. Ownbey, her sisters, Patricia Ann Whittington, Maxine Daley, Paula Jo Whitehead, and brother L.B. Daley, sons-in-law, Timothy Lacy and Earl Bowman, and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Ownbey.
She is survived by her children Marissa Lacy, Herschel Ownbey (Brenda Tompkins), Jolynda Bowman, Jeri Ann Ownbey, and Charla Jackson (Ron), her sister, Cindi Lou Ruehl (David), and sister-in-law, Joan Leatherwood.
She is survived by her grandchildren; Heidi Valdez (Ray), Timothy Lacy (Kellie), Seth Lacy (Natalie), Cynthia Ownbey (John Johnson), Cheyenne Ownbey, Hayla Ownbey, Nicole Snow, Jonathon Bowman, Presley Snow, Jesse Ham (Ember), Jordan Ham, Jacob Ham (Christina), Kasie Flynn (Dustin), and Ashlyn Jackson, great grandchildren, Caleb (Jenna), Hannah (Lynn), Noah, Miriam, Micah, Levi, Jayden, Emma, Aaron, Rebekah, Abigail, Matthew, Jacob, Jesse, Dustyn, Ellieana, Jaylene, Braxton, Samantha, Waylon, Emerson, Sawyer, Rowan; and great-great grandchildren, Jackson, Landon, Eliana.
The family wishes to express gratitude to Mary and Tasha in the Soin ICU, the Soin Emergency Room, Kristen, and the Hospice of Dayton Team.

Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the life of Barbara on November 27, 2023, at Cornerstone Baptist Temple, 1707 Ohmer Ave, Dayton, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 11am-1pm, with a service following at 1pm with Pastor Jerry Siler officiating. Burial will take place at Valley View Memorial Gardens, Xenia, Ohio. There will be a meal to follow for family and friends at Cornerstone.
