

HARDIN, Jr. Benjamin G. Age 94 of Riverside, passed away on January 30, 2022. He was born on March 30, 1927 in Lima, Ohio. Son of the late Benjamin & Mabel (Bennett) Hardin. Benjamin retired from Delco Products after 34 years of service. He was the director of Material and Production Control, a Veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Maryland, BB46, and was on the “Honor Flight”, July 11, 2009. He attended Wilbur Wright High School the Class of 1945. He was a prominent athlete in the Dayton area in basketball and baseball and was inducted into the Slow Pitch Hall of Fame in 1977 and the Wilbur Wright High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015. Benjamin was a 70 year member of Millennium Masonic Lodge #779 and had served as Worshipful Master in 1980-1981, a member of each of the bodies of the Scottish Rite and York Rite. He was made an honorary member of the Supreme Council, 33rd degree in 1997, a member of the Antioch Shrine & Server as their potentate in 1988. He also served as the deputy Imperial Chaplain for the Shrine of North America 2002-2003. Served as President of the Ohio State Shrine in 1995, was a member of DeMolay Legion of Honor, Community United Methodist Church, the Milton Athletic Club, and member of the VFW #657. He was preceded in death by his wonderful wife of 67 years, Janet Hardin, parents, sister Doris (Seldon) Blaylock, and son-in-law Ronald Ross. He is survived by his son, daughter Gail Ross, and his wonderful grandchildren Eric Ross, and Joshua Ross. He loved his 5 great-grandchildren very much. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022 at the Tobias Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. until the time of services on Friday, March 4. Contributions may be made to Antioch Shrine Foundation, or the Dayton Masonic Foundation.
