Constance (Connie) Dolores Grosjean passed away at Miami Valley Hospital on December 23, 2023 surrounded by family. Born December 31, 1944, to Clifford and Dolores Wendeln in Dayton, Ohio, she and her twin sister, Carol, beat the IRS deadline for the year.
A life-long resident of the Dayton area, she attended St. Mary’s grade school, class of 1959, Julienne High School, class of 1963, and Good Samaritan School of Nursing, class of 1966. Initially employed at a private practice, she married Dennis Grosjean in 1969 and concentrated on raising a family until the children were approaching high-school age. She returned to the work force as a part-time RN at Crestview Manor (currently Village at the Greene), and then spent over 25 years at Lincoln Park Manor Nursing Home in Kettering, Ohio, as well as a short period at St. Leonard Senior Community, Centerville, Ohio.
She was active in church activities including president of Women’s Guild at The Church of the Ascension and was honored as an Ascension Woman of the Year. She was also an active member of Christ Child Society of Dayton working on programs benefiting children, contributing her talents to the Red Wagon Luncheon fundraiser, and enjoying Bunco gatherings.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and survived by her husband of 54 years, Dennis; daughter Amy (Len) Mazzanti of Doylestown, PA, and sons Steven (Bridget) Grosjean of Cincinnati, OH and Jeffrey (Lavonne) Grosjean of Mount Perry, OH; sisters Mary Wendeln C.PP.S, Janet (Gary) Woodall, Carol Frantz, all of Dayton, Margie (Dan) of Columbus, OH, and brother Tom Wendeln, of Dayton.
As an avid sports fan, she spent many hours cheering for Ohio State and Cleveland Browns football, University of Dayton basketball, and Cincinnati Reds baseball, even when the teams were not particularly successful. Her night-owl character was present to the end in the fact that her passing occurred with her family present during the wee hours of the morning.
Her greatest source of joy in life was her grandchildren Brad, Alecea, and Kaylee Grosjean of Cincinnati, Sydney and Sam Mazzanti of Doylestown, and Colton and Aleksia Grosjean of Mount Perry. They relish their times with Mamaw playing cards and board games, competing in Wii Cow Racing, and swimming in the backyard pool which always included popsicles. She also immensely enjoyed supporting the grandchildren in their sports and theatrical activities.
