BROWER, Daniel C., executive, entrepreneur and head of family, died on Monday morning, January 26, 2015. Dan was born on October 30, 1930 in Dayton. Dan came into this world early and left too soon. His life was built on a natural inclination to work hard, provide for those he loved, and do the right thing. Paternal to many, he was a man of big intention, superior long-range vision and a genuine love for people. He was directive, bright, and in his element if able to create and mentor. Infinitely kind to others in day-to-day life, he made a friend of everyman and offered a genteel chivalry to women. He had a way of looking into ones’ heart, finding the piece that needed something, and working to fill it. Dan was born to Rebecca Francis and Frederick Lowe Brower at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. He grew up on a farm in Clayton with his brothers Fred and Bill, and graduated from Fairview High School, class of ’48. He attended Miami University (class of ’52) (ROTC) where he embraced all things Miami and all things Beta Theta Pi, which continued through his life, serving as a chairman of the Miami Alumni Association. He met his love, Phyllis Louise Rhodes at Miami, married her on campus and served as a lieutenant in the Navy (San Francisco and New London, CT). They welcomed Cynthia Louise (Cindy) and Daniel Rhodes and built a strong family. Daughter-in-law, Anne, and son-in law, Greg Kenny, enriched his life, and he was proud to be Pop to Kelsey, Daniel, Christian, Brooke and Austen, as well as to Gregory, Claire and Ann Kenny in recent years. Great grandbabies are Blakely Anne and August Grace. Dan loved to create and manage business, working to do what was right for the position and people. He was Vice President of Industry Marketing for NCR, President of The Water Refining Company, and President/CEO of Liebert Corporation. Dan owned Brower Network One (BN1), acquired Top Design with his brother, Bill, and founded Brower Products, where the Brower men, and Mark Frericks, built the business together. He attended the executive Harvard Business School program, was a Freemason, and served on the boards of Siebenthaler, Dayton and St. Ann’s Hospital, Columbus. Mr. Brower cherished friends, among them: Smizers, The Forty Nine Club (49ers) and dear friends at Moraine and Walloon Country Clubs, and Muirfield Village. Visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31 at the Westminster Church, 125 North Wilkinson St., Dayton, Ohio with a memorial tribute of Dan’s life immediately following. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati. Condolences may be sent to www.tobias funeralhome.com.
