Daniel Leon Lomax, “aka Danimal, Demo and Lomacko,” of Centerville Ohio, formerly of Highland, IN, has achieved calmness with his soul at the age of 70. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family on September 25, 2022.
Dan was a three sport athlete (wrestling, football, track) for Morton High School graduating in 1972. Dan was a proud boilermaker for Inland Steel for 32 years where he created bonds that would not break the toughest of metals with his colleagues.
Although Dan may have had a tough exterior, his soft side came through in being a great father and grandfather. He was an awesome provider who always had timely and witty words of advice. Dan loved his family and had a formidable work ethic with coaching his kid’s sports teams, working double shifts and going on minimal sleep to not miss a moment.
Dan enjoyed the Chicago Bears, attending eight away games with his son and friends. Dan was also passionate for cheering on the White Sox, Cincinnati Reds & Bengals, Notre Dame football, grilling, golfing, hiking, laying by the pool , jamming out to the Beatles & Eagles, & going to Emerald Island with his wife.
Dan is survived by his wife of 5 years Teresa , son Brian (Jessica) Lomax of Centerville, and daughter Beth (Neal) Blank of Waynesville; cherished grandchildren Jaden (Jannette), Joseph, Annie, Avery, and great grandchild Macaya; adoring sister Sandy (Jim) Simpson; nieces Shannon (Jim) McGinness and Amber (David) Kee.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents Charles & Esther Lomax and his little brother Michael “Mikey” Lomax.
Family will celebrate Dan in a private ceremony.
As we honor Dan, it seemed fitting to include a verse from his favorite song:
"Come down from your fences
Open the gate.
It may be raining
But there’s a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you
Before it’s too late”
Rest in peace Dan. You were loved more than you know.
