Darlene D. McCune

Darlene D. McCune, of Beavercreek, age 85, born July 3, 1940, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 21, 2025. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Terry (Butch) of 65 years, daughter Stephanie (McCune) Day, son Scott (Jen) McCune, and grandson, Zack McCune. Sister-in-law Nancy (Bruce) Robinson, Sherry McCune and numerous special nieces and nephews. Darlene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family.

Darlene grew up in Dayton, OH and graduated in 1959 from Wilbur Wright High School. She was a long-time member of Eastview Recreation Pool, where special times were shared with family and many friends creating happy and lasting memories. Darlene loved traveling with Butch after their retirement. She enjoyed her monthly women’s card club for over 25 years and yearly trips to Las Vegas with the ladies, as well as bowling and bingo. She cherished spending time with her family, friends and relatives.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Opal (Hetzel) Shafer. Her brother Richard Jr. “Dick” (Betty) Shafer, sisters-in-law Marilyn “Randy” (Dick) Beisel, Shirley “Cook” (Don) Parks, Diann (Bill) Lipps and brother-in-law Larry (Cork) McCune.

Darlene will always be remembered for her warm smile, kind heart, the generosity she showed to her family, friends and the life-long love she shared with her beloved husband, Butch.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A memorial visitation for Darlene will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Tobias Funeral Home, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd, Dayton, OH 45432, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM.
