David worked at Rich’s Pawn Shop for around 60 years and was the owner for the majority of those years. Additionally, David enjoyed photography, Star Wars, outdoor activities, animals, and fishing with family. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Dayton in 1969 and was a huge UD basketball fan.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Hultz) Bertke; son, Shawn Bertke; four daughters, Aubryann, Anndrea, Hannah, and Megann Bertke; five sisters, Connie Schmidt, Judy (Rob) Kennedy, Ann (Ed) Daly, Jill (Vern) Wagner, and Kim Garwood; two grandchildren, Jordan and Mackenzie Bertke; and a great-grandson, Boston Bertke. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Mark and Steven Bertke.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, April 25 at Tobias Funeral Home - Belmont Chapel. A visitation will occur from 4-6pm with a service to follow.
