

Donald Gene Bastian, age 89, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, just seven weeks after the passing of his beloved wife of 67 years, Charlotte Bastian. Their enduring partnership and devotion to one another were the foundation of a life rich in family, purpose, and love.
Born in Lyons, New York, Don pursued his passion for engineering and graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1959 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He proudly served eight years in the United States Navy Reserve, exemplifying a lifelong commitment to service and responsibility.
Following college, Don built a distinguished career as a Mechanical Engineer, working for several corporations before ultimately founding his own consulting business. Through this work, he became a respected expert serving commercial printers around the world. His intellect, problem-solving skills, and integrity earned him admiration from colleagues and clients alike.
Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his children: Jeffery Bastian (Martha), Gregory Bastian (Janet), and Cathleen Anderson (Grant). He was a proud grandfather to Jay Bastian (Kristin), Seth Anderson (Analicia), Elizabeth Stafford (Tyler), Erika Anderson, Emily Szydlik (Jacob), Alexander Bastian, and Joanna Bastian. He also leaves behind his cherished great-grandchildren: Ximena, Elias, and Julian Anderson-Galindo; Rylie and Chloe Bastian; Isabelle and Henry Szydlik; and Virginia and Sadie Stafford.In addition to his wife, Donald was preceded in death by his sister, Marla Wilkes.
Donald will be remembered for his sharp mind, steady presence, and deep dedication to his family. He also found joy in playing golf and watching baseball, especially cheering for his beloved Cincinnati Reds. His life was marked by hard work, curiosity, and quiet strength, and his legacy lives on through the generations he so dearly loved.
