

Donald Valentine Town, age 90, passed away Thursday December 27, 2012. Born August 23, 1922 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Guy A. Town and Edna (Schulze) Town, Don spent his career as a machinist mechanic at White Allen Chevrolet, International Clay Machinery and Chemineer Inc. He is a veteran of World War II where he served in the army in the European Theater of operations with the 136th Ordnance Maintenance Battalion, 14th Armored Division. He met his wife of 60 years, Martha Aring, during a furlough on 4th of July weekend in 1943 and married her on June 21, 1944. He was a skilled mechanic and handy man who could build or fix anything. He enjoyed home projects, his garage and tools, his vegetable garden and a good joke. But mostly he enjoyed and was proud of his children and grandchildren and he will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha (Aring) Town, son Ronald and sister Virginia Denman. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Bob Gough of San Diego, son Jim Town of Dayton, daughter Diane Town of Columbus and son and daughter-in-law Mark and Zena Town of San Diego. Also surviving are his sister Judy Lannom of Dayton, granddaughters Liza Gary (Jason), Dayna Gavin (Steve) and Melanie Town, all of San Diego, and Jeanette Town of Grove City; great grandsons Adam Peterson, Dylan Gary, Casey Gavin, great granddaughter Camryn Rose Gavin and special friend Megan Jasinski. A grave side memorial service will be held at the Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on December 31, 2012. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (P.O.
