Doshie Ball

Doshie Ball (Pitman), 87, passed away on February 9, 2026, to be with her Lord and Savior after a long battle with dementia. Even throughout her illness, she remained one of the kindest and most loving people you could ever meet. Our family is deeply thankful for the compassionate caregivers at Hospice of Dayton, who became like family to her.

Doshie was born on June 28, 1938, in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Wade W. Pitman and Anna (Perry) Pitman. Alongside her husband, Rev. Preston L. Ball, she pastored and co-founded Vermont Avenue Church of God in 1978. The church later grew and relocated, becoming Air Street Church of God, where they faithfully served until his passing in April 2012. Their son, Preston David Ball, continued their legacy by carrying on the ministry as pastor.

Doshie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Preston L. Ball, her son, Keith Ball, two sisters, Edith Hoover and Helen Carter; two brothers, Wade Pitman and Johnnie Pitman, their spouses; and two infant granddaughters.

She is survived by her children, Ken (Rhonda) Ball, Kim (John) Kuns, Preston David (Karen) Ball, Karen (Casey) Schmitt, and Kathy Sheppard and Companion Robert, 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, two on the way; as well as two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Joe and Cheryle Ball, Bobby Ball and Barbara Bailey. Her loving Chocolate Lab, Bo. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Doshie’s greatest joy was her faith in God and her family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Tobias Funeral Home in Beavercreek, Ohio, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastors Leon and Jacki Collins. She will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Mount Zion Shoup Cemetery in Beavercreek.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton in memory of Doshie Ball.
