

BECK, Ellen Dennison, age 88, of Miamisburg, passed away October 24, 2016. She was a native of Oxford, Ohio and lived in the Dayton area since graduating from college. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Beck, son David Beck, parents Mildred Rothhaar and Jackson Belden Dennison, brother, John Dennison and son-in-law Jeffrey Klieve. She is survived by her sister Margaret Kenney, daughters Jane Klieve of St. Louis, MO and Margaret (Timothy) Neff of Gaylord, MI, son Matthew Beck (Candace) of Lebanon, OH, grandsons Benjamin Klieve, Eric and Kevin Neff, Brian (Riley) Beck and granddaughters Ann (Jason) DeLeone, Paige (Bobby) Schuckmann, Rachel Woodall, Anne Klieve, Julie (Edward) Devault, Sarah Neff and Amy Beck, great grandchildren Grace and Isaac DeLeone and Avery and Reid Schuckmann and Nora Devault. Ellen graduated from McGuffey High School in Oxford, OH and earned BS and MA degrees from Miami University and a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi fraternity, Mortar Board and Phi Kappa Phi academic honorary. She served as a faculty member and department chair of the Psychology department and administrator of Sinclair Ohio Fellows and Sinclair College for Seniors (now College for Lifelong Learning) at Sinclair Community College. Visitation and a memorial service will be held at the Miami Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 8690 Yankee Road, Dayton, OH 45458 on Saturday, October 29th. Visitation at 9:30 a.m., service at 11:00 a.m. Private interment of ashes at David’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dayton Area Foodbank, Salvation Army, Hospice of Dayton or the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements by Tobias Funeral home – Far Hills Chapel.
