Our prayers go to Fred and the entire Hussong family.

Fred was very big influence on me and he will be missed. I think of all the fun the Slaters and Hussongs had as we grew up. When thinking of Fred, I think of camping, hiking, shooting, and generally "freaking out in the woods". I also think of Jeeps, western adventures, fireworks, his humor, and his job at the base. My brother Matt and I did several "home and home" weeks during summers in our teens with Rick and John. We spent two weeks at each's house often taking the train by ourselves to Ohio from St. Louis or Chicago. We would do many fun activities during our stay in Ohio. After spending the day at the AFB museum on a few occasions, we went to see Fred's latest project of applying stress to airplane parts which exposed me to engineering and computing concepts. I admired Fred so much from those cool experiences that I caught the desire to be an engineer too.
We were blessed to have so many good times and fond memories with Fred. He is a legend and will be in our prayers today and always.

I had the pleasure to be Fred's caregiver, he made me feel more like a friend. My favorite memories of Fred when we would watch the news in the morning. We always would joke about me running for president and he would definitely vote for me. I enjoyed our conversations in the morning and keeping him up to date on what was going on in the world, since he was not able to get out. I was his eyes and ears on what was going on in the world.
