CASSIDY, Gerald (Gerry) Doll, 84, of Kettering, OH, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2018 at his home after dealing with the complications of Parkinson’s disease over the past three years. He was born in Portsmouth, OH on December 20, 1933, son of the late Frances & Grace Cassidy. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia, son Kevin and his wife Rika, daughter Kelley and her husband Doug. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren Adam, Caitlin, Sean, Rachel, Brian, Meghan, and Grant; 2 brothers; Dave & Ralph; 4 sisters in law; and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers (Howard & Walt). He graduated from Holy Redeemer High School in Portsmouth, OH before attending and graduating from the University of Dayton in 1956. Upon graduation he served 2 years in the US Army. He married Patricia Waggoner on August 12, 1961 in Belpre, OH. He worked for the USAF as a civilian at Wright Patterson Air Force Base for 36 years, retiring in 1997 as the program manager of SIBR. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church since 1975 and was active in Diakonia as well as serving as a mass usher. He also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity for over 20 years as a member of “Charlies Gang”. Additionally, he volunteered as a Eucharistic minister at Walnut Creek Nursing Home. He will be remembered as a man who devoted himself to the service of others. Visiting hours will be from 4-7pm on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Tobias Funeral Home – Far Hills Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Kettering, OH.
