Gretchen Burton

BURTON, Gretchen Jean, age 82 of Peebles, Ohio and formerly of Beavercreek, Ohio, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023. Gretchen was preceded in death by her husband John W. Burton, and parents Robert and Melvina Reiter. Gretchen is survived by her children Dawn (Roger) Sarver, John (Jessica) Burton and grandchildren Malinda, Joshua, Lisa, James, Marcus, Cristina, John Connor, and great-grandchildren Katarina, Alyssa, Tyler, Ian, Riley, Jaxon, Wyatt, Gretchen, Michael, and Abby Ann.

Gretchen graduated from Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing, with a 4 year degree, in 1962. She worked as a Registered Nurse for several of the Dayton Area medical facilities, the longest of which was Kettering Medical Center, and lastly Trinity nursing home. She had a passion for sewing, crafting, and home canning.

She also enjoyed long walks including The Flying Pig Marathon, taking 1st place and several top 5 finishes for her age group of 65 and up. She and her favorite dogs Mr.Buckly and Pi ~ also clocked hundreds of miles training and just enjoying walks with their dog friends throughout the neighborhood. Gretchen also loved gardening as well as several other hobbies including basket weaving, card making, scrap booking, cross stitching, tending her flower beds, and of course, spending time with her many loved ones.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the Tobias Funeral Home – Beavercreek Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. https://www.alz.org/
