Helen Jean Hager

Helen Hager (Jones), age 87, of Kettering, Ohio passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and great friend to those lucky enough to know her.

Helen was born in McConnelsville, Ohio, on June 1, 1937 to the late Herbert and Thelma Jones. She was also preceded in death by sisters Susan (Don) Marshall and Patricia Gimmison.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Jerry Hager; children, Brian (Kelley) Hager, and Leslie (Philip) Freytag; grandchildren, Andy (Stephanie) Hager, Ben (Amanda Amburgey) Hager, Joe Hager, Samantha Freytag and Elizabeth Freytag; and great-grandchildren, Cecilia Hager, Hailey Hager, Matthew Hager and Avarie Hager. Also surviving is brother-in-law, Jim Gimmison, husband of Patricia Gimmison and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Helen loved spending time with her family and friends, both in Ohio and Florida. She loved playing cards, bingo night and ice cream socials. She enjoyed many vacations and cruises with her husband and friends. Helen loved hanging out with her grandchildren; camping, reading books, going to museums or just having them spend the night. She always made family get-togethers and holidays extra special. She touched many lives with her generosity, humor, kindness, friendly personality, and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

A visitation for Helen will be held on March 12, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Tobias Funeral Home – Belmont Chapel, Dayton, Ohio. A private commitment service will take place at the Dayton National Cemetery for family members following the visitation.
