Jerry was a lifelong resident of Dayton, Ohio. He served in the Army, stationed in Germany before discharge. Jerry pursued a career as a typesetter, working at McCall Magazine until being laid off in the early 70s. Jerry spent a few years as a stay at home dad before stay at home dads were cool. Jerry then took a job working for General Motors and worked for 22 years before retiring. He spent his retirement years fishing, attending baseball games and fish fries, vacationing with family, and traveling to Vegas.
Jerry enjoyed his group of friends from the Kettering Rec Center where he spent many hours walking the track, shooting the bull with friends, and relaxing in the hot tub. Jerry was a man dedicated to family and friends as demonstrated by his lifelong friendships with high school friends, work buddies, past neighbors, and fellow veterans.
Dad was kidder, a jokester and positive person. He was a quiet rock in the middle of storms; he was a constant when you weren’t sure where to turn. He is loved and dearly missed in the lives of his family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11am until 2 pm with a memorial service starting at 2pm on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Tobias Funeral Home - Belmont Chapel, 648 Watervliet Ave, Dayton, OH, 45420.
